What's new at Blessed SacramentPosted July 7, 2008 ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS Blessed Sacrament will join Anglo-Catholics throughout the Anglican world in an hour of silent prayer on Monday, July 14 to mark the 175th anniversary of the launching of the Oxford Movement and the Catholic Revival in the Anglican Communion. This event was suggested by Forward in Faith. The observation at Blessed Sacrament will begin with Evensong, and will include the sermon preached by the Rev. John Keble, "National Apostasy", which he delivered at St. Mary the Virgin in Oxford on July 14, 1833. It was this sermon that ignited the Catholic revival in the Church of England. A corporate hour of silent prayer will follow Evensong. As we pray to God on July 14, it is our aim not merely to commemorate the events of the past, but also to listen to God and to pray for His help to discern and carry out His will in our own generation. Those who are unable to attend may observe the hour of silent prayer under any circumstances sometime on that day. SUNDAY MASSES AND SERMONS ONLINE Blessed Sacrament's Sunday Masses and sermons are now available online through this website. From the main menu, click on the link marked Audio Recordings, take your pick from the offerings, and listen to the entire Mass or just the sermon. Thanks to Peter Koch and Daniel Peckham for this new feature on our website. CHURCH CALENDAR See the church calendar for more upcoming events. |
