What the congregation is like

The mission statement, written at the top of the home page, expresses the goals and life of our congregation concisely and accurately.

Blessed Sacrament is a congregation in the high church tradition of the Episcopal Church, emphasizing liturgical worship with beauty and ritual. Not swayed by fads and trends either in the culture or even the wider Church, the congration stands firmly on the traditional teachings of the Church of the ages, warmly and lovingly presented to people of all kinds, as the way to know the invincible joy of a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

An extremely high quality music program, both choral and instrumental, is maintained by the very gifted and deeply dedicated parish musician, Sandy Fryling. Sandy was awarded an honorary doctorate in music by Nashotah House Seminary in Wisconsin in 2008.

There is a strong emphasis on families with small children and youth ministry with a lot of youth participation in the life of the parish. However, the congregation is comprised not only of families with children, but also numerous single people, couples whose children have grown and moved away, and the elderly. There is also a large contingent of college students. It is our intention that everyone have a place in the parish family.

Total membership is about 380 people -- roughly 190 families and single people. One third of the parish membership is under the age of 25.
